I have just fitted a DR180 kit on my PX, took my time at approx 30 / 35 mph for roughly 100 miles to run it in. Fitted a 112 jet as well, the problem I have is that A) it struggles to go over 50, and B) after a short time sitting at 50 or just over it cuts out. I pull over and can kick her back in straight away or I can slow down drop her into 3rd and she bumps straight away. Any ideas?? Be much appreciated for any feedback

What exhaust and carb are you running?
It could be heat seizing?! It could be your timing?!
More info needed, does it cut out suddenly and lock the back wheel or??
You.may just need bigger jets.

I've recently installed a DR 180 on my PX and to be honest your not going to get much more top end from the thing with just a bolt on kit,,I have plenty of torque and pulling away or going up hills is a breeze but I'm still having to change my clutch as I've a standard 20 tooth on for the 125 but am needing a 22/23 to get any real gain. I have a 24/24 carb with SIP road exhaust and don't really get much more than 55mph ... I ran my top end in for 400 miles and never went over 40mph just to make sure. There are many conflicting comments on how many mile's you should run the DR top end in for but the majority of comments including SIP say 400+ miles just to make sure its well bedded in.

my timing is standard b8 plug as i do 10 mile trip twice a day on mostly 50 to 60 roads b8 burns spot on. sterling pipe 20/20 spaco carb that has had the main jet uprated but only to next size up ill get size tomorrow for you while im sorting indicators standard air filter drilled and that's it fella. i have found if you have an elasticated seat cover on a standard seat it restricts the airflow going in so to tackle that i added a few thicker washers to the seat mounting to raise it a touch at the front. i did get the carb new thought why not for the price and just to be on the safe side as id had so much trouble on the 166. if its cutting out just for good measure empty the tank and swill it out mine was cutting out i did the tank clean out and it has not cut out since . it may be coincidence but it worked for me and the filter in the tank had crap in it that i couldn't see

Cheers Rab,,,, very useful info there
I was gonna change my fuel tap the weekend to a fast flow one,,I'm sure my tanks crapped up and filter needs a good clean so why not treat my self to a new SIP tap. I get slight flat spots at full revs in 4th could be fuel starvation?? could be not?? but hey worth a tinker.

pottermod, bigger carbs need bigger jets to be the same. If you are happy that it runs ok on the 24/24, do a full throttle run for a few miles. turn off key, stop in a layby. And take a photo of the spark plug. We'll try and help

only reason i did not go back to the 24 mil carb was for better economy as scoot is mainly just work use and local riding i may yet go upto a 116 on the 20 mil and ill defiantly go back upto the 24 mil carb once ive done my part one as ill have more freedom and motorway option for rides out

if ya lads are goin sip fast flow tap you best make sure ya needle valves are good as sip taps never really shut off , the bgm tap for roughly same money is loads better , an also trim ya pipes as short as ya can as no tap flow will overcome a kinked/looped pipe , H

make sure you do a plug check fella you have more fuel getting in now and you've tweaked the main ill assume you went up a size so you may need to get more air in aswell.also if your using auto lube for the 2 stop and start pre mixing
