HI Can anyone point me towards a place I can get hold of a ramp / clamp to raise the scooter off the deck while I am sat staring at the engine block mystified and crying? Garage floor is giving me piles!

Google 'motorcycle work bench' and a few will come up, or there is the old standby of a modified hospital bed if you can get a plate welded to it.

if you can weld or know some one who will weld cheep a friend of mine used an old conveyor belt took out the rollers and boarded it on top. then got some chequer plate and cut down a piece of the conveyor at an angle and chequer plated it for a ramp .hes been using it for years and it was all free. factory's just throw out old conveyor pieces and pile it up to rot. it may be an idea if you know were there is some. i actually know a few that do this but there all on my delivery route too far from were i live for personal collection . to strap it down use a ratchet strap how many do we see lied on the hard shoulder of a motorway that fall off wagons just another cash saving

I bought a proper hydrulic motorcycle lift before my restoration, with a view that when the scoot is finished and not in use I could store at high level to lesseon the risk of getting knocked by kids taking bikes and stuff out of the garage. I am so pleased if did, it made the resto a real pleasure!
eBay £250
Ps. I wanted to post some photos on here of the finished scoot, but can't find how to upload them?

ive a hole in the beam in middle of garage roof , an a eye bolt in floor, a 20 quid "come along" ,hand ratchet winch with 500kg rating lifts to whatever height ya want an the eye bolt ties it down to stop swinging ,you can just prop swingarm on axle stand remove bolts an lift chassis off engine for a full strip an reverse process for the re-build .hole in beam also hangs frame whilst painting ,an eye bolt doubles as "ground anchor" to defeat/delay tea-leafs.when lazy or when my wayward discs go "walkabout" round my colon i use lift to get bare chassis's onto workmate for rubbing/stripping (chassis not me)paint-prep.an it all packs away/hangs from a nail on the wall when not in use ,as a bench can take up a lot of space when not in use ,space better used by buying a second scoot/bike.an the come along an a few more strategic placed eye bolts allows for frame straightening/accident repairs an other pull/push type jobs . i use to stop n pick up ratchet straps from side of road til i realised they were quite often there as they'd failed to do there job an un-ratcheted .an also had one fail without warning as stitching was rotten as it was old an prob been thrown away.with trailer always gone old-skool trucker with rope an a dolly knot ,a dolly on a dolly can exert 1/2 ton of pull on the rope, enuff to banana a scoot frame if used carelessly .ive never done it myself but have had to straighten a bent scoot drooped in this way by somebody borrowing my trailer.an rope is cheap enuff youve always got enuff that if theres any doubt just put some more on ,an if knot wont untie use a knot stick, knife in plain english.an always use foam/old pillows/rags with rope or straps or it will rub ya paint off .H

I use a purpose built 'pre-owned' motorcycle type hydraulic ramp. Had to rebuild the hydraulic ram seals but worked out at only 200 ukp all in. It is of such a heavy grade that it should last a bl%dy lifetime. Has drop down, hinged rear bed section as well so easy for rear wheel outs on motorcycles too. Where from? Ebay!!!
