Hi, 1st post and hoping for some clarification on what paint schemes were offered from new? I have just bought a PX200 on an 03 plate which has metallic silver leggies and main frame but the panels, tool box, headset top, horncaste and front mudguard are a darker (slate) grey metallic. The combination looks great but the scoot had been down the road on the near side and the panel will need repainting once I've tackled the dents. My question is, is the darker colour on the panels standard or would it have been added by a later owner or the dealer (Midland Scooter Center). There is a code which I suspect is the code for the silver attached under the seat (Platino 686). Any ideas?

Quick update, the dark contrasting colour on the panels is on the inside of the panels as well and the scratched one does not show any silver underneath so I'm certain that the scoot left the factory in those colours. Anyone know if there was a slate grey metallic offered by Piaggio around 2002/3?

Personally I'm not aware of any two tone factory jobbies apart from the final serie speciale b&w jobbie.. but believe the Midland Scooter Centre have always done 'dealer specials'
That code is for the silver of the body

dont know about 2002/3 piaggio paint schemes ,ive got modern paint codes by ringing/e mailing manufacturers with a reg number an saying its for touch-up or matching in a bike rack .slightly naughty as it wasnt my car an i'd just spotted/liked the colour an wanted to spray a scoot in it . unfortunately it could only be made in modern base paint an i wanted cellulose. also just because the colour is inside panels an you cant see any other under it could mean it was a decent/proper paint job not a blow-over .to be sure its original you need to look in harder places to remove an paint , inside the toolbox ,behind horncast. most auto paint shops have a paint reader ,they put the gizmo on a unfaded paint spot an it kicks out a paint code to match it ,under the toolbox prob be best as its most out of the sun/uv damage ,or inside sidepanels if ya wash n wipe with thinners the paint will come up close to original. my mates 2003 px200 is 1 of the anniversary 1's ,made coz they were 25 years old an stopping production coz of emmissions ,an they were 1 silver all over .but dealers did do 2 tone dealer specials aswell so maybe a call/drop in at midlands scoots will get a answer .
