hi, ive been looking on sip website for a torque value for wheel rim nuts with nordlocks washers an cant find anything specific .ive not run them before but helped a mate fit some about a year ago an have a vague memory of finding a torque setting slightly different to the split rim piaggio standard (14-16ft/lb).have been through my "little black book of stuff to remember" an cant find it or the back of fag packet note it prob would of been written on. does anybody here have any ideas/clues to what it is ,or what they use . coz of some old posts on sip web forum i'm toying with idea of threadlock aswell, but as posts are 2 years old think there from before sip supplied nordlocks as standard with there rims so threadlock might be belt n braces an binder twine too far ,thoughts anybody . I've not heard of SIP rims coming off? I know there were problems with RS ones about ten years ago, but not heard anything since.
In theory, Nordlocks shouldn't need as high a tension due to their brilliant locking design, but I just use normal settings.

from the old posts (2 years n more)i read some anorak had been measuring studs an piaggio were 11mm long an lml 16 ,an he creditted the longer studs as not having loosened rims ,but with some dome nuts being the short ones stripping threads by stud "bottoming" out in the nut . have seen it on lammie hubs where the wrong short domes have been used , the nuts supplied are quite long so as to fit into the well in rim an stand proud enuff to get a socket on so should be ok on piaggio studs, cant say ive ever noticed any diff in studs from 1 to tother . the sense i get from it is when sip started selling them the nordlocks where offered as a reccomendation that was ignored by a few cheapskates with bad consequences ,just a couple, an sip quickly started supplying them as standard with the rims an the problem was solved . have looked in my thread size/torque value chart an the studs can take the wasp rec of 16ft/lb so i think i'll go with that ,specially as ali rims damage/wear quicker than steels with loose rims ,an the damage will right the rim off if it occurs .as gaz says they are cheapish ,but not a throw-away cheapy , dont think i'm going to go all out an use threadlock now, would make a roadside flat tyre a bit of a bugger/harder ,thanks for answers lads ,my mind is at rest, well as much as it ever gets anyway.
