Guys, is there any need to fit the reinforced cosa clutch bell on a px with a 177 kit.
Apparently housing needs some mods also.
Advice pls as it's for a mates scoot that's been dead for a few weeks.

Theres no actual 'need' but you may find it will help. If you already have one then yes go ahead. But do check it carefully as quality has become an issue with some recent clutch bells. You could also use stronger springs in the clutch , along with better plates.

It will fit. Inside the clutch cover/bell there are two lugs. The one that protrudes the most needs grinding back with a dremmel. It's literally a ten minute job.

Is it wise to fit one or will a normal Cosa clutch be good enough ??

A well set up cosa ll clutch should be ok. I run a stock cosa ll clutch with my kitted 225, with upgraded springs and plates. No problems. Its your call really.

Cheers
I was asking the guys in the know. You guys.
It's not my scoot, it's a mate who's struggling and he's not getting a ride out,
I going to get it fixed at a scoot shop while he's on holiday.

I don't like the Cosa type clutch. They're not as strong as a Mk1, and an engine is only as strong as it's weakest component. That said, you can safely run up to about 20bhp through one

The COSA clutch can't handle the stress of wheelies and burnouts like the MK1 clutch but for normal riding a COSA clutch is better

You may already have one?! Theres the early type stock clutch. This has 6 springs. Then there is the cosa mk l with 7 springs. Then there comes the 8 spring cosa ll clutch.
Basically your stock clutch (whichever you have) will be ok if you upgrade the springs and clutch and give it a good clean and inspection.
