Hi guys, I am looking to buy my very first scoot, but need to learn more before I do !! I am planning on buying a px125, and would like if someone could enlighten me on what licence I would need to drive it (without L plates, and with a passenger) I do hold a full car licence if that helps ?!?...... Help a rookie Mod out here !!! Haha Thanks

hi n welcome ,a full car licence lets you ride a 50cc moped without leper plates an with a pillion ,but you wouldnt want to do it ,there so restricted as to be a danger in todays traffic , for a px 125 you need to get the provisional bike entitlement on your car licence ,unless ya passed the test ages ago an already have it.then its a cbt test,1 days course an 95-110 quid an with l-plates an no pillion your ready to go on the road ,no motorways tho, then its a 2 part test ,theory 1 an being observed on the road practical.its expensive about 600 quid if you do the intensive week long course ,not sure about how much just for the tests alone . lots of people dont bother an just re-do there cbt every 2 years ,but they cant carry a pillion an have to fly "leper plates" on there scoots . theres only a few cbt places that run scoots ,most expect you to do it on a bike, but all should allow you to use your own machine an most drop the price 10-20 quid if you do.without a cbt ya aint legal tho the law dont seem to bother about it,being more concerned about insurance an tax, stuff they can check without actualy getting out the car an working off there canteen bacon butties.but if in a accident or scoot stolen the first thing ya insewerants company will do is ask for ya cbt .not having a current 1 means no insurance=no pay out .a mate got knocked off his scoot last week, woman admitted liability,on return from hospital concussed didnt fully lock the scoot up,it was stolen ,bad luck or what eh,coz he never did his cbt no crash insurance means no money for his scoot an probably a void personal injury clame ,1800 for the scoot an 3500-4000comp he aint going to see .an a return to that "lower order" as a "pedestrian" ,cheers Henri

In short you need to take your cbt to ride a 125 cc bike or scooter you can not carry passengers on a cbt and it lasts 2 years unless you have done or do your theory .once you have both these you can do your part one and part 2 to gain full entitelment

Hi guys and thanks for your responses, that's helped me greatly !! I realise I could have found out all this online, but then who wants to spend ages trawling through boring irrelevant junk !! Haha. I'd rather just get involved and ask the guys who know. I think I will probably sit my theory and then parts 1&2 because I'm probably gonna be looking to get away on some scooter runs with my girl !!... And let's face it there's nothing more un-cool than rocking 'L' plates !!! Thanks again guys !!
