The diagram on Beedspeeds site suggests it's external.

had a look earlier on my px cases (was replacing the gear selecter box) an the rubber seal behind kickstart is a external type rubber washer it seems ,so should be easy to change with engine in without splitting cases .dont know if the kickstart shaft has a internal o-ring tho, like the clutch arm or rear brake pivot shaft,an its so long since ive had to change a kickstart shaft i cant remember.sorry cant help more. some of the webshops have exploded parts diagrams (aj sutton,SIP,)looking on there might tell you more . Iv'e done this before, yes split cases, kickstart quadrant out, the rubber o ring/seal sits in a groove in the caseing, old one out new one in with a blob of grease.

in meantime you could try pulling the external rubber washer forward a bit an putting a drop of silicon-sealant behind it ,might stop ya drip til you split the cases .H p.s. an while ya there its always worth replacing the kickstart quadrant rubber bump-stops ,there pennys an save the cases an quadrant ever meeting.
