Please can anyone help me. When I pull up at lights, roundabouts and give ways, when I engage neutral the engine, the revs increase by themselves and are screaming high and I have to try and get it in gear and hold it on the clutch prior to setting off again. This is burning the clutch and it is difficult to engage a gear. It's just been into the garage to be looked at and was apparently fixed! The clutch was adjusted and the cylinder head cleaned up and slightly 'flattened' to stop, any air getting in. This has not cured the problem. Can anybody suggest anything?? Thanks John.

wrong place to ask fella you need to post it in tech thread but if a garage fixed the problem and its still got the problem take it back and either demand your money back or demand they fix it properly this time as you've paid for it try turning the tick over down its the screw on the carb lid easy to get to and could be something that simple

Thanks Rab, I've tried the tick over and it's been re set. It's a pk50 with a 125 engine in and I do ride it at its top end on the open road so was wondering if that had anything to do with it? Sorry to be a pain but it's my first scooter so don't really know what I'm doing and am Eager to learn! Please can you tell me how to get on the tech thread as I can only find a create thread button? Thanks again. John

John have you checked your carb is properly seated on the casings, if you take the lid off there are two allen key bolts, give them another 1/2 turn. If that doesn't fix it you may be looking at a flywheel seal, there easily replaced and can be done with the engine in the scooter. Just need to remove flywheel cover, flywheel & stator. Tools need are flywheel holder & puller, worth buying cost about £20 for the pair, you may as well get a clutch compressor as well. When you remove the stator make sure you mark it against the casings with a pen. gary

Also check the cylinder head nuts torque.

Thankyou all for your advice. Apparently it was the oil seals! Way beyond me sorting it, but hopefully it will be right when it comes back. Thanks again. John.

Seals are the worst job on the engine, but they're still pretty simple
