Hi, yes a newbie to Scoots. Hello & Please play nice.
I've just acquired a P reg T5, 125.
My question is simple, what's the difference between the standard 125 & a T5.
Many thanks
Mr P.

Ugh, this has confused me. I was told (by my bro-in-laws brother who I swapped my old scoot with for the Vespa) is a T5. I don't know how to identify if it is or not, I'm not really bothered if it is or not either except to ensure I buy the correct parts when needed, but when I just did a search for the Chassis number to get a description, the pre-fix shows P125X 1978 - 1981 (V5 says registered in 1982), so now I have no clue what scoot I have?

where did you search for the pre-fix as not all websites are accurate, cant really tell from ya picture wether its a t5 or a px ,looks px to me.the chassis number pre-fix tells you the frame identity ,but ya bro's/bro might of called it a t5 as thats the engine thats in it maybe.there faster than px125's an quite a common swap on learner-legal px's .the pre-fix to the engine number will tell you what spares to get.its on the swinging arm behind the barrel/exhaust pipe .the v5's are rarely accurate as to model an when built ,a scoot built in 78/79 could wait 6 months to be shipped an then sit in a dealers for a year before being registered when bought ,that way it would come with a reg plate of the year (82) tho made a year or more earlier. cheers H

I searched here, the pre-fix is VNX1T which shows P125X These images may help (scuse the gloves on one of them, someone playing a prank at a rally)

scooter could be a t5 classic..... basically a t5 engine in a px frame ..that is possibly where the confusion lies....the frame no could say px.. have you checked engine number ?

sorry i should of said earlier,a picture from the back might help identify the chassis ,there called "square tails" for a reason, that an a different shape headset/speedo are the differences in body to a px.but as the t5 came with a crap speedo that was prone to breaking a lot have px headsets, same'ish shape as the t5 classics ,as mickymidas says thats probably what youve got ,but the engine number will tell you more. as for the rally prankster maybe they were trying to dry ya gloves off for the ride home ,nice looking scoot you've got,the paint looks the same colour as a lx i had for my missus ,"daring plum" is the piaggio name ,i think it was 2005-6 years colour ,in case you need a scratch-repair rattle can .H

The easiest way to check is to look at where the exhaust sits on the barrel. If it has a clamp around it with a horizontal bolt for tightening it, then P125. If it has two bolts that fasten into the cylinder, then T5.
