Hello all I have a PX125. It's been upgraded a little with a Polini 177 kit, Somonini exhaust and SI 24/24 carb. Struggling to get it over 55mph and a bit lumpy on idle and low revs. Can anybody advise the correct jetting. I think the current main is a 108. I have taken the plug out to check colouring and attached a pic to this post. Attachments:

When I say I'm struggling to get 55mph. I mean it will seize

mine has a px 200 carb on the 166 molosi kit rather than messing with re jetting and adjustments id say get a 200 carb on it and just adjust mixtures until its running smooth also check your timing

What jets? You should be running something close to standard p2 jetting.
Check the stator is retarded as far as it will go too.

Would the wrong jetting cause my scoot to seize at 55mph?

Yes, not enough fuel getting through, but I'd check the timing while I was at it.
Thinking back to the timing on my old shed, I opened the slots out a touch so I could take it further back.

I thought to much fuel would cause that ie to much fuel causing heat.
But then I am a novice to the scoot world

So you recommend 1- get the jetting checked 2-get timing checked/adjusted.
Would any bike garage be able to do this

Fuel causes oxygen to burn - it's an accelerant, not the actual source of power - and evaporates. Anything that evaporates cools as it does so, so it helps avoid seizure and piston melting incidents. Unfortunately, if you have too much fuel - too big a jet - then there won't be enough oxygen in the mix to fire cleanly, so it'll either not fire, or bog down if it does.
Despite scare stories, there is generally a fairly wide range where the motor will run happily.. But a bit of time on a scooter shop done is the only way to get it bang on.

Thanks for the help. Really do appreciate it. I will get it booked in. Do you think I should be able to get more than 55 out of it?
Cheers

without a doubt yes id just be careful get it tuned to go faster but not as fast as it will go you can spend a few hundred quid making it faster using kits but for the same few hundred quid you could simply put a bigger engine in it that goes faster and is supposed to. call me cautious but who likes sitting at the side of the road with a blown engine and money down the drain follow nicks advice take it to a scooter shop that specialize in scooter tuning pay good money now or bad money later when your the one sat on the kerb
