Need a little more info. Does the clutch lever feel normal, with almost no slack at the lever? When you pull in the clutch lever does the kickstart move freely as it should or drag a bit?

The lever feels fine. But when the lever is pulled in the kickstart does not move freely. It's still under compression. I've adjusted it as far as it will go but the kickstart still will not move freely Cheers

was your clutch working before you changed the plates, what make of plates did you use and did you soak them in sae 30 engine oil before fitting. it sounds like the plates are too tight in the basket and are not separating. Also if you have a warped steel plate that can cause this problem.

If the lever feels totally normal but it will still turn the engine on the kickstart with the clutch in, then its really not good. Dragging a bit it could be oil but turning the engine means the clutch is not assembled correctly. Sorry, looks like the clutch is coming out again. Don't forget, use a new clutch nut and one small dot of blue threadlock, every single time it goes back together!
