Hi all, I am a lifelong motorcyclist 50cc to 1540cc but with a total knee replacement and athritus in the other knee I am considering buying a Vespa 300 , can anyone give advice on my choice and the handling of these scoots as Ive never ridden on small wheels, do they handle ok especially on country roads and are they reliable, I think they must be but any advice will be welcome, many thanks, Neil in Lancashire

Hi Neil and welcome, I've never heard a bad word about them, but can't offer any more than that and seeing that you haven't had any takers, you will get a better response on modernvespa.com It's predominantly US based but there's lots of Brit GTS owners on there who will give good advice. This place is aimed more at, though not exclusively, traditional geared Vespas. Best of luck

In fairness the GTS 250/300 is probably the best workhorse you're ever going to get scooterwise..... they're comfortable, generally very reliable and quicker than most Vespa riders can even dream of(but if you ever tell anyone I said that I'll deny it point blank!!!) That said it's not a 2 stroke, it's got no gears and is therefore predominantly for the rider who is a little light on their loafers

Always remember what GTS stands for..
Seriously though, the 250 is the one to get.
