most probable cause is speedo drive worn ... most are only plastic and wear if not greased regularly . about £5/£6 off beedspeed . look in that area 1st

Old Indian trick.......... hub off, and using a triangular needle file chamfer off the edges of the speedo drive until they no longer feel so sharp to the touch. Until I did this I was averaging 50 to 60 miles per speedo worm, now I've done about 7000 trouble free.

Is there a 'proper' length for a speedo cable? Mine has been on and off for a while and today I had time to look at it. It measure 103.5cm. Doesn't look worn at the business end but it will only spin if pushed right in. When it is brought out even by a mm it stops. Have I got a dud?
