Time for a new centre stand, does anyone know if one of these reinforced jobs will fit OK with a sito+? It’s a 1983 PX150E.

Hi There I have just fitted one of these to my standard P2, and it is not the prettiest, but it is good, as the sito + is meant to be same as standard i think it should be fine. I also fitted a set of reinforcing plates from Gran Sport, they are also very good.

Why would a stand need to be reinforced with extra struts unless its made of cheese string to start with?

Do not knock zimmer frames, we will all probably end up with them at some point, i especially like the ones with wheels so you do not have to lift them for forward motion, hopefully by then there will be a tubeless tyre option, as i do not fancy a blow out at that age!

If I don't do it, someone else will: I think mine’s the original stand, but I’ve bent it well out of shape just in the year I’ve had it with all the aggro starting, and it needs sorting before it falls over, and it might not be helping my carb either. I thought I’d replace it with the strongest I could get as long as it fits with the sito+. I did wonder how good the lugs would be at stopping twist anyway. I do sense here though that those who have commented do not consider them aesthetically pleasing anyway. Stainless?

I think the angled straps are to prevent the stand legs from spreading rather than twisting.

How do you bend a stand? I can honestly say I've never seen a bent centre stand, plenty of bent floors from people riding off the stand though

My centre stand was bent badly due to previous owner grinding bits off to fit simonini exhaust, which weakened it and caused a dent in floor as all stress was taken by right side foot board.
love the picture, made me laugh

I've bent a stand and never ridden it off. If you lie onbe leg on the floor, the other is about 1 1/2 inches from true.
Needless to say it's off the late model P2....

My floor is fine. My stand is bent, twisted in the way Nik says, and it was caused by me kicking it over again and again, during the period of aggro warm-starting, which was the subject of an earlier thread or two. Now that I've done the top-end and am doing the carb, I want to replace the stand. I don't think it was a poorly made stand; just old, knackered and probably abused a bit by me in its final year. I just want to get the best (strongest, not flashest) that I can that will fit, and I thought the Sito+ might be a factor in deciding. The splaying that Kru describes is not a problem, and neither is the floor; I never ride off the stand either. So, given the fact that people will make shabby and sell as quality, does anyone want to suggest a good manufacturer/supplier, or the best material to buy? It ain't a biggy, I'd just like to do a decent job of it.

I've one that looks like the one illustrated in my garage. It's an early stand that I got a mate to weld some braces across. Much cheaper than buying one of those, and no, they're to stop twisting.
I still like my prop stand though.
