I was looking at getting a bag of them the other day. HOW BLOODY MUCH? ? Think it'll be worth it though.

On fleabay a bag of 50 x 6mm (yeah, I know we need 8mm) were 8.99 post free! I've left then a message to ask how much 1 x 8mm was.................. I jest. Not sure if they do them but a bag of 20 would do the two SIP rims eh?

That was my thinking. I found 50 x 8mm for about £27. I'll split a bag with you if you grab some though.

There must be a cheaper way of doing this!

Hi Nik,
After checking out a few, how about this for a deal?
"5x pairs of M8 for £1.49 with free P+P,".
Now that sounds a lot better to me!!!!

Sorry if I've missed the conversation here making this an irrelevant post! .. I fitted a set of these for a mate, the stupid recesses on the rim which did not allow me to get all the nuts on means a 20 min job turned into 90 mins. Had to ream out the recess with a Dremel. Put me off ever buying them myself..

You did get the proper SIP nuts with them?

Yes, they came with 2 sets, the problem seems to be that the nuts are very tight in the recesses, so if you have a stud that is just a fraction out, you cant get all the nuts on.
I do know he has an aftermarket hub so that may have been the problem as if the stud alignment is not perfect, things are not going to line up, unlike on a regular hub where there is lots of 'slack'..

Did you contact SIP about them? I read something yesterday about a problem with a wide kit and they'd replaced and paid postage.
Think it was SIP - definitely their wide wheel kit anyway.

Bryno.
Without getting the wrong idea, look at the earlier picture of my nuts! If you see the slight scuff on that lower collar I'd agree about stud alignment/hole recess size/nut collar size. I am going to turn my nuts down (like most woman I ask lol). Think that should cure my ills with these hubs.

Naw, I did the dremel action and sent him on his way..
Yeh, I think turning down the nuts would be a better solution really, least that would not have trashed the paint like my dremel approach did.
It does annoy me that nothing aftermarket ever seems to fit right though.. ho hum!

My two bob's worth then. Goop. Saved my life last year on the motorway. Nuff said. My life is worth more than a new wheel, tyre and/or tube. The stuff works so long as you use enough of it. Out of devilment, I put some in a tyre, blew it up then unscrewed the valve. It still kept most of the air inside the tyre - so I can tell you it definitely works!
Alloy wheels. I bought a set of SIP and had no idea my PX had an old Mk1 rear hub. Studs were only about about 12mm in length. Bolted up new wheels and a week later, back one almost came off at 55mph! Studs weren't long enough to hold the alloys on firmly (nut not getting on enough thread). Bought a new PX hub - studs are @ 15mm long on the newer ones. I also discussed this with SIP, who, while they said they had tested them with both stud lengths, sent me a new wheel and everything I else I had to replace because of the damage.
I now threadlock the buggers on! I can't actually get the rim off the hub when its under the scoot anyway as the rims are a bit wider than steel ones. When I have to change a rear wheel, I just take the rim and brake drum off in one piece and then split them.
Ran the thing to Cologne and back last June - all motorway - no issues with bthem at all after we had the right hub, proper nordlock washers and a bit og threadlock.

Glad to hear Gloop works and you're here to be able to tell me it does too as just used some in one of my tubed Lammies
