Ive decided to keep me T5 , its a lovely scoot, and rides much nicer than my new px 150, Talking of which,,,,,,, got it out of the garage today, been using the t5 for last couple of rides so I thought , a nice day lets get some miles on the new px. It started ok, but then I noticed it , its starting to f++in rust!!!! ,3 months old!!!!,where the foot boards meet the centre spine, on both sides!!, now thats as well as the cat making it run rough as billyo, the rear hub warped, a noisey clutch, and the indicators filling up with water after every wash, I phoned the dealer and explained my problems, he said ' the new px is an enthusiasts machine', Ill go and see that t**t on monday, The thing I keep beating myself up about is that I could have got a new LML for just over half the price of the px, , and they cant be that much worse.

That's not good to hear! Well an LML is pretty good as a copy, but just won't do the distance in the long run (no pun intended) from what I read/hear/see. Classic place for rust on Vespas that section. Never sure if it is poor surface prep before it's all welded up or just before spraying etc. I always have lots of polish in that area. Indicators? I've drilled small holes to allow water to drain out at the lowest points of the lenses as I know it's gonna get water ingress if it gets hosed down. Warped hub. Warranty change? Noisey clutch? They all seem to be a bit rumbly, but noisey??? Ah, the old "Enthusiasts" ploy. Another way of saying you need to work on these a bit; but you love it really!! Rather like a fault that gets greeted by "They all do that Sir"

Where the rust is forming there is a thin bead of like a dry silicone gap filler which has let water through, the inside of the front mudguard, inside of the side panels have very little kind of over spray, which is really pathetic, a cold saltyroadwinter would eat this scooter. Its also fitted with a spaco indian carb, not a delortto. I prefer riding my t5, im p*sed off with this 'disposable scooter' , my advice to anyone thinking of buying a new px would be - buy an lml, the money you save spend a few quid to get the electrics ect upgraded. Or buy an older px which has been looked after , theres a few about. Ive lost faith with my new px , its just ,, substandard. Piaggio are taking the p*ss,,,,,,,,,

yeah..it is sad..very shoddy to how they made em' a few years ago...theres some really sh*t feedback on the italian websites.. and because of the way Piaggio handles warranty claims, the dealer has to break the entire engine down, submit pictures and then, with luck, Piaggio accepts the claim and sends spare parts so iv'e been informed

I remember Suzukli handling claims like that once upon a time. Dealer had to purchase all the parts individually and then reclaim the money. A dealer friend 'broke' a brand new Suzuki GT250 just for the engine as he was upset that the customer would be without his brand new bike that had suffered an oil supply issue (factory fault) within 15 miles of collection. Cost of the new bike (selling cost) was at that time 647ukp in 1978. Customer was happy with a brand new engine fitted and when my friend eventually figured out all the small print for the warranty claim as in all new, packaged spare parts (new pistons, rings, barrels, crank, seals, etc) it came to..................................... 2, 279ukp. Crazy!!!! That's spare parts for you.

Ha couldn't agree with you more marco, my px is 4 months old and has been back to the garage 4 times. In some ways I wish I got a LML Too and saved myself a grand!

I really don't know who the hell you've been talking to KRU, but the LML 125 (with the exception of a brief period about ten years ago when they used crap crank bearings) has always been equal too - and in a lot of cases superior to - the Vespa original of the same vintage. Even Scootering magazine have been impressed with quality (although the 4T seem to have a way to go with this)
The engines are pretty bullet proof, the frames are made from a thicker grade steel, and the paint is applied rather than shown to the body. The suspension is stiffer and the seats more comfortable. I've said this over and over again.. they're a much better machine than anything Piaggio has made since about 2000 (if not before!). There are weak points - on older bikes the electrics seem to have been constructed out of wet string and the rear hubs can be a bit hit and miss, but if you're just buying an engine that's not going to be a problem. I've ridden a few and found them solid, an ex-girlfriend had one and put 15k miles on with only a change of rings. Given the choice between a P125 and an LML125, I'd always go Indian.
As for the original problem with the P150, my 51 plate P200 had a very similar problem, and I was basically told to 'do one' when I complained. If I'd have known then what I know now about the sale of goods act (look up 'merchantable quality' in relation to it) then I'd have had a respray out of them! All of which, I suppose, goes someway to proving my point about Piaggio v LML paint.

I think you'll find those LML. aren't bad at all when new, but when we found they had used less copper in the wiring but increased the plastic content (so the external diameter appeared the same but the conductivity ability wasn't) then you ask questions! I DO believe they are at least as good if not better than current Piaggio offerings. Just not as good as the earler stuff from Vespa. Like the whole damn world, everyone is cutting margins/production costs in an effort to stay profitable/in business. If that wiring mod saves the equivalent of 10p a scooter then work that out on a conservative production run of say 10,000 units then that's a grand saved. I do take your point though Nik of Italian versus Indian or
