I think I might have a touch of fuel starvation, I have seen the fast flow fuel taps on Shebay. Any good?

Well I can't say for Vespa as mine is working fine, but there are some advertised on FleaBay as fast flow for Lambretta and they aren't any better than std and in one case on a mate's scoot it was pathetic as it was worse; so you pays yer money...........................

200 px 1986 engine, just seemed a bit bit of a trickle when I checked the fuel. It's also has loads if bottom end torque but no top end power, I mean flat. Thought it might be fuel?? Maybe a new needle?

Probably more importantly, how old is the tank? Rust particles can easily form and create a blockage etc If flow checked, then scoot given a good shake to swirl around any particles then turned back on it might flow faster? If so, you know you have those rust particles. Doesn't take too much to block up holes, jets etc.

ktm640, Can you post a decent picture of your spark plug? Hold it flat out in 3rd or 4th for at least 30 seconds and do a plug chop (let go of throttle, pull in clutch and turn of key , in that order and without falling off pls!). Take out the plug and take us a picture down the end so we can see from the electrode into the plug down the length of the insulator (ooh er!). It will then be easy to see if it is fuel starvation or one of the other usual subjects

You'll never need a fast fuel flow tap on a standard engine. Strip and clean the tap that's in.

I had a problem with not pulling full chat on my P2 recently, felt like fuel starvation, went through all the usual fuel related problems, changed carb, tank, filter, fuel line but fuel still seemed to glug and trickle!
Then fitted a SIP fast flow tap. Fuel flow much better, but problem not solved..
Turned out to be the CDI breaking down!
I'm a reasonable mechanic, but I'd have sworn it was a fuel problem, so certainly worth swapping the CDI (borrow a mates) after you have done the easy checks and before you change the tap.
As Nik says, stardard P2 doesn't really need a fast flow.
