Not having much luck with my new toy at the moment so please help me with some vespa knowledge.
3 weeks ago I got taken out by a stupid car driver which left my scooter a mess, I have had to replace both side panels top cover and many other things ,but since replacing the top plastic cover back on I have had at least 3 electrical faults on my scooter
1.Front right indicator stopped working 2.Indicator (green light) not working 3.Fuel gauge not working
I took the cover back off to find a small black wire showing copper which connects to the speedo. could this be the cause of all these problems or just 1?? or could it be something else.
I'm really not mechanically minded or have a clue about electrics so any information will be gratefully received.

It could well be related to some, it'll be the earth wire from the headlamp and Vespa earthing is notoriously funny - it should earth through the speedo cable, but it's possible to run without a speedo cable and still get an earth from 'somewhere'! Sort that to start with.
Front indicator could be a few things though - I assume you've changed the bulb? They will shatter in a shunt. Check that the earth from unit to chassis is solid too, they're temperamental, especially if you have a few things in your tool box rattling about - a stuffed full toolbox gets less indicator problems than one with a few things in. The idiot light (green warning light) should start to work once you fix that. Again - strange Vespa wiring. If it doesn't, let me know and I'll go through it with you. Fuel gauge - pop the cover off the rear of the tank and make sure the triple connector is secure. If it is, again, get back to us on here.
P range electrics have some strange foibles, but they're pretty straight forward.

Cheers's fella thanks for the advice I was told by a friend it could be shorting out. I have noticed when looking down the steering column there's a gap where the handlebars turn ,the main electrical cables/wire's are rubbing against the steering column and have warn the outer casing away. hope this is the fault I'm getting a friend to check the bike over the weekend so finger's crossed

It's possible, but I can't see that suiting the problems, unless you're unlucky and it's eaten the indicator wire in question
