Hi. Im new here and really need some help to identify which model this stretched 1976 Vespa is (before it was stretched): It has been sitting in my garage for the last 5 years. I travelled around Bali, Indonesia on it for a few months, enjoyed it so put it in a container and shipped it home with furniture I was exporting. The rust actually isn't as bad as it looks (was in back garden for 2 months) I have the original paperwork from Bali which states: Chassis number: VBCI - 330023 Engine number: VBCIM - 329137 (I think!! Google translate!) 1976 150cc As a fun project (I have a lot of time on my hands for now) I would like to get my hands dirty and get it on the road. Will I have trouble registering this modified Vespa? Yes I am crazy but it was a fun (and stable) scooter to ride. I have travelled across India on a Indian Lambretta Li150 so know what to expect with such scooters when it comes to repairing them. I was thinking maybe some kind of rat rod scooter (I have just sold my rat splitscreen vw bus and miss it). I would appreciate so much if anyone can shed some light on which model this might be so I can start sourcing some parts. Thanks in advance Kenny

Hi and welcome,
It's a 150 Super, made from '66 to'79.
Bit of a project that, you might want to contact the Vespa club of Britain regarding getting it registered. Good luck and keep us updated.

Thanks Robjack for your quick reply. It will indeed be a big project. At least I now know what parts to start buying. Can anybody give me some cheap UK suppliers to purchase 150 super parts online? I have noticed one of my side panels is rotten!! I am assuming now only aftermarket parts are available.

You wont find much remade stuff for the Super, try Allstyles (UK) or SIP (Germany), both do some remade panel work. Your best bet though is Scooter parts fayres and Ebay for second hand stuff, more chance of it actuall fitting Supers are a pretty un-loved Vespa so you'll not pay much for parts. I believe 'Sprint' side panels are the same, but best check

Why would you want to do anything with that?

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction for parts online. It's my 1st Vespa and a mighty project it will be. No I didn't do it myself, it was like it when I bought it in Bali. After I bought it I had various bits done to it so I could ride it about, exhaust, tyres, most of the engine rebuilt, battery setup. It was even sent to a machinist and now it has some funky powerband. All in all cost me £300 which was worth it just to travel around Bali for a few months. The shipping to UK was free as I was shipping a container home anyway. And the reason for me deciding to repair it.....Would you throw it away? Even though it has been laid up it had only done about 300 miles since a rebuild. I don't plan on a mint restoration, just some new parts to funk it up a bit, Rat style No doubt I will get stuck many times so hope to get some sound advice here. Thanks once again Kenny

I didn't mean 'why would you want to repair it', I meant 'wow, leave it as it is!'.
A shame you didn't do it yourself, it would have been interesting to find out why and how!
Good luck with it.

Make that four persons. As long as it gets to be mechanically/safety sound then the rest can be left. Wonderful; love it!!!!
