Hi I have a PX 50 and advised on a 2% mix. Therefore I should add say 40 ml oil and 2 litres petrol ?? Does that sound right ? Apologies for all dumb questions....

Hi and welcome.
First of all, you don't have a PX50, there's no such thing. You most likely have a PK50 which is a late model smallframe Vespa.
Secondly, yes, 40ml to 2 litres of fuel is 2% mix.

It could be a PX80 with dodgy paperwork?

pop down your local scooter shop and get a small measuring jug...takes all the hassle out of measuring oil / fuel ratio.

Lammies are 4% normally though (old school oils) aren't they?
I've always run at 2% on all oils. I don't hold with the theory that it makes your engine run lean at 3 or 4%, I just have never seen the need for greater amounts of oil - you're throwing in a greater amount of fuel/oil mix, so you're already using more oil anyway.
But that's irrelevant to the conversation, just stick to 2% and you'll be fine.

These days 4% is a bit OTT on new semi/fully synthetic oils, but if I were fast running on a long thrash I might still go that percentage................... just to be sure!!!!

2% of 5 litres is, conveniently, 100ml.

Rumour has it that those little SIP bottles are either Castrol or Rock Oil too. I always carry a couple in my toolbox for emergencies, it's surprising how often Mr Disorganised has had to use them

You'll soon be carrying bottles of formula milk everywhere instead. Congratulations by the way.

150ml in one of those bottles, that's enough for a tankful...
And thanks, where did you pick up that news?
