Hello, my name is Scott. I'm a Vespaholic. LOL How can I connect 2 fog lights to my vespa so they work "reliably". Currently got it hooked up to a scooter batter, 12v stator, and a magneto to recharge the battery. The fog lights are vintage Notek resilite foglights, but we removed the old bulbs and replaced with 21w PX indicator bulbs. Lights work well for 2 hours, then battery dies. Seems motor can't keep up with it's job of recharging the battery during my daytime driving which is extensive. I do plenty of driving that I should be charging the battery enough. System was installed by professionals, it's been checked and tweaked 3 times, last time finally upgrading to the 12v stator. So this was a test week to see how it goes, and tonight battery died, after 4 nights of driving and daytime driving without lights. Is there ANY WAY possible to setup auxiliary lights such as these to work continuously?? Thanks, I hope somebody has the answer. I know many use the lights just for show, as I'm sure the 500 lights the MODS have on their scooters don't actually work. But I'm only trying to get light from a pair.

Nope, four hours of continuous riding would be enough to kill even the toughest battery - the stock Vespa battery is 9Ah. If you're drawing 2A then the most you can expect is 4 1/2 hours. 21W is quite a lot of power, I'd suggest trying LEDs as they're the lowest draw there is.

Well, the vbb doesn't have any "stock" battery, but they're using some small scooter battery. But did you consider the charging mechanism? You didn't mention that. It's connected with a magneto that is supposed to recharge the battery from the motor. What about a full AC conversion? Will it allow me to run 21w fog lights? Sorry LED's inside the fog lights won't produce enough light to be visible. Thanks for your help, but I know there are people using fog lights out there, how?

For short lengths of time. I'm well aware the VBB doesn't use a battery, but to the best of my knowledge there is no way of using scooter parts to generate enough power to charge a bigger battery than the 9Ah one that a P range uses (I'm pretty sure you'll be using P components?)
They only charge at a certain rate, and if you're draining it faster than it can fill (think of a bath with the taps being smaller than the plug hole!)then you're eventually going to drain the battery.
You'll be surprised how much light the LEDs put out BTW, a lot of cars use them now - if they're up to that level then they're good enough for a poxy little scooter!
