Hello All From Sunny Oxfordshire.... Just a few silly questions for a virgin Vespa shopper...They may seem daft too you,but honestly these are genuine questions, any good honest answers be most welcoming.. Firstly i have never ridden a Vespa but have had bikes of course..My scariest was R6 and nicest the Z1000 was quick and comfy..Anyway,have had 4 years away from bikes as bought a house etc..Been reading scootering mags and thinking of a Vespa now for 18 months or so.. Well i been thinking of buying an Auto Vespa like the Gts model for a bit of fun..But have found myself torn between a new model like that....or i see a Px200 on a T Reg looked lovely..Is the 2 stroke really reliable as i see you can but a new 150 Px now but not sure..4 stroke or 2..? auto or manual..? I know its my choice etc,but as i dont really know anybody who rides 1 am relying on your answers/advice here please.. My heart says Px on 99 model or new 150 but would it be more sensible to go for Gts super..Only thing is its auto, and am sure a lot of people dislike it for that reason....Thanks everybody..

welcome matey..it's your personal choice...auto's a bit more reliable & faster...but more expensive if they go wrong, myself...i prefer PX 2 stroke anytime ...nicer style & easy to work on...

Thanks... Yeah am thinking of the reliability as i am not mechanically minded and work long hours,so be just a weekend/summer dry days escape from the missus sort of thing.. I like the look of the older scoots, but the breaking down bit sort of puts me of.. Am also wanting to join a local club, but not sure how i be accepted on a "newer" auto type Vespa as reading throught the lines a lot of people really hate the modern Vespa

Go for the 250, quicker off the mark, bugger all difference in top end, the only place they fall back is on hills and headwinds, but there's not a lot in it.
I'd still go for the P2 though. Easy to fix when they do go wrong (And they will - as will the GTS), most jobs are within the scope of a home mechanic, even if they think they're not, unlike the GTS which is into the shop for regular belt changes.
