Evenin' all.....Finally putting things back together after removing my engine to get the dropped in gearbox woodruff key! Ha ha Just a couple of questions to put to the usual gurus out there.... The clutch nut.... Should I zip it up with an air tool to get it back that extra couple of mill, I went to put clutch casing on tonight but there was a couple of mm gap..... I guess it should be flush before you bolt it up? Don't wanna wreck sh*t as usual! Also......excuse my ignorance (again) but where does a throttle slide go?? Buggered if I know!! Cheers for any light shed...😉

Clutch nut should not IMHO be airgunned into place. Use a torque wrench. Be careful if using a new woodruff key as I have had them oversize depth wise and not fit into the slot correctly. Means that the casing then doesn't locate correctly either. The key is only a location device; not a retainer. The nut does that retaining job!!!! Throttle slide is the section inside the carburretor that moves up and down when you open the throttle to allow more air and fuel to enter the engine's combustion chamber in a regulated amount. A spring helps to snap the slide down/shut so cutting off most of the air/fuel supply etc Simple drawing here:- beedspeed.com/html-pages/automatic-scooter-engines-explained.htm

If it's sitting that far proud, take the nut off and move the clutch round slightly to ensure that it's meshing properly with the gears as you may have managed to sit it squarely on top of a gear tooth. I can't think of anything else that could do that.
And no, do not use an airgun!

if you've fitted a new clutch cover o ring, that may cause the cover to sit proud of the caseing until tightened. I smear some grease round the o ring to ease fitting the cover.hth
