Anyone shed light on why a dellorto 24/24 carb slide should start sticking ?...not all the time , about every 3 or 4 pulls of the throttle...have stripped / cleaned and rebuilt but still the same . All ideas welcome....cheers

Daft question, but is your cable OK? I've known a frayed cable show the same effect.

had this recently on my mk1 p2, just worn carb body causing slide to stick, had a spare carb body so fitted old slide and was sorted. ive read somewhere recently that over/uneven tighting of the carb can distort it causing the sticking slide problem.

Thanks chaps . warped carb body , due to uneven tightening has been suggested on scooterotica as well. Tried slide in another old carb and was ok , so codged & bodged 2 u/s carbs into 1 good one. Thanks for taking the time to answer. xx mick

Yeah, the carbs are only made of poor, cheap materials so can distort quite easily. Glad you've sorted it though. ;D

FTR I've had this in the past and backed the two fastening bolts back off a thou'... Or 'cracking the bolt' as it's known round where I used to live. It was a good short term answer, but I eventually cured it by putting too carb gaskets under the carb. God knows why it worked, but it did.

All bolts and screws have 'correct' torque settings. An old saying in the aircraft industry when an apprentice was too lazy to check out a torque figure from the manual/aerofiche and just shouted out "What torque figure should the X,Y or Z bolt be tightened to" almost always got a reply of "Up to shear.................then back half a turn" !
