Firstly, where's the plug showing as good? Resting on the block when the engine is kicked over? Well that's no sure bet that it works under compression IN the block. But let's say that that plug is fine. If there's good compression then it's got to be a lack of fuel. I'd be starting there (no pun intended). Sure the misfire wasn't just a lack of fuel due to filter/silt build-up in the carb jets in the first place starving the engine of fuel.? A lot of very tiny rust particles can form and get sucked through in 34 years!!!!

Check the wiring is in correctly, you can get a good spark with the white not in correctly or broken.
Put the original CDI back on, see what happens. Just because something is new, it doesn't automatically follow it works properly. Especially with scooter components.

Thanks for your replys, I have checked the compression with a tester and that is fine, I will strip the carb down and give it a good clean. And also put the old cdi back on, i will keep you updated thanks once again.

the early px 125 s had points, might be worth checking the gap and contacts for wear/ dirt.

If it's got a CDI then it's an electronic ignition model. Points models have HT coils.

After doing some research is it possible that the timing could be out ?

What state are the piston rings in? Measure the gap, see what that says.
Failing that, try a different stator.
Without seeing it, it's hard to diagnose.

Change the lead and plug cap first, should have mentioned that earlier.
One other thing.. Disconnect the green wire that runs up the chassis from the cdi (not hte one from the stator) See if it will fire up like that.

Hi All Problem fixed, it was a broken woodruff key on the shaft, which knocked all the timing out. Thanks for all your advice.
