Hi all - I'm a mid-40s Oxford lad who is yearning to re-capture some of his youth - I had an old Vespa 100 back 20+ years ago for a while but nothing since - I just fancy getting back on 2 wheels and have been trying to bring myself back up to speed with what's out there these days. Was looking at the PX125 as that seems the closest retro-wise to what I was used to - was horrified that most other new models are twist and go's!! Anyway was just deliberating on these at a cost of c£3K and then stumbled across LML which seem to cost a fair bit less but look pretty damn good and by some accounts are better built? So now I'm a bit confused. I like the modern ideas of underseat storage (but don't believe this applies to the PX), not really an engineer type so not really sure of the benefits of 2 and 4 stroke etc. What are the current scooter boys' views on LML? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Go for the LML 2-stroke, as far as I know they're still available. The current PX's are pretty much identical to them, some minor styling variations. Two strokes are a lot easier to work on that four strokes, the engine design is proven, and they - to me - sound a lot better. The LML four stroke, geared scooter is meant to be a good little bike though, I'm still trying to blag a ride on one. Autos are fine. I've ridden most of the GT(S) range and they're quick, pretty nimble, but solid feeling. You may get a bit of ridicule from some dinosaurs, but it's your money, your choice. Look at the amount of them on rallies if you're unsure - they're everywhere! Speaking as an old school scooterboy who never grew up, I'd have any of the above, sadly bar the PX. There's a thread about the LML here: s4.zetaboards.com/ScooterboyWorld/topic/9485466/1/#newMost of the contributors (if not all) are fellow old school survivors. Be warned, SBW threads can be a bit blunt, though this one's not too bad!

Many thanks for that sbwnik - very useful.
OK a really dumb question now - 2 stroke engines you have to top up both gas and oil in separate tanks, correct? How often typically do you need to top up the oil?
Thanks again.
