I have a 1980 Vespa 50 special, I want to upgrade the head light because it isn't very bright but I am not to sure what options there are. Could anybody help?

is it 6 volt or 12 pal.....& does it have a battery

its gonna have to be a 12 volt upgrade then im afraid...or stick with a dim light

hi, i had same problem many years ago. went up the 12v with a battery route and it lit the whole street up! also i dont know why but it seemed to go faster after i had done it.

I suspect you just rode it faster................ as you could finally see where you were going at night!!!!! But seriously, your spark on a 12v system was probably a lot better too.

I'm pretty sure that a PK stator and flywheel will go straight on. That's a 12v conversion.

Just had a quick chat with a lad who's more than a little bit of a small frame guru, he says buy a Vespatronic kit, the rest is fairly straight forward.

I can understand why, and it would make sense to me, but the small frame freak reckons that the only other modification MAY be that you need to change the type of brake pedal switch (though there is a bodge for that).
Try it, and if the loom catches fire I'll send you my mates address.....
