Had engine out to do some clutch work etc and obviously had the plastic pipework off the oil feed. Read in the Haynes book that there is no bleed for the oil system as gravity fed etc. They suggest using a 50 : 1 oil in fuel tank mix for a tank to allow the oil to be pulled through OK. Seems a good idea. Question. If you allow the oil to drip by holding the pipe low, when pipe is full you put your finger over the end and refit it to the metal supply pipe should you see any air bubbles? I do. Also, how long does it take for the pump to get it all 'bleed'.
Please don't say about using oil in fuel as in the old days as standard; I have two Lambrettas for that! It is only a non modified performance wise PX200E after all. Thanks.

nearly imposible to avoid getting a small air bubble when refitting pipe, put a capfull in tank (2 st) and on first start up, watch the air bubble disapear, then just check 2 st level drops as you drive. hope that helps

Thanks BSR65. Well I have bled Kwacker 250's and as you say the bubble just disappears after a short while running. Well this one hasn't! I can't see any 'pull-thru' at all. Now if I'd been into the pump side of things and dismantled etc I'd think I'd got it wrong but this? Blocked feed pipe perhaps? Worth a look I suppose. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr. If it's not one thing, it's something else!!!!

Update:- Well decided to remove the oil feed pipe. In doing that I could see the rubber 'grommet' protecting the fuel pipe through the housing hole was misplaced having nearly dropped right through. Bit of a s*d to get back into the right place thjat grommet especially when the fuel pipe popped out the bottom. Anyway, I had to remove the metal oil feed pipe to sort this anyway. Blew it through and it cleared with a bit of a 'pop'. Blocked? No, I think it was just the column of oil, but still good to know it was totally clear. I then connected it back to the plastic pipe. It all dripped through fine so once that pesky grommet was back in place and the fuel line reconnected I refitted the oil feed pipe. Bit late for the neighbours to start it up at 11.45pm so I'll try it in the morning weather permitting.

More update. This a few weeks later. To cut a long story short, the gasket that someone had fitted between the cast box and the carb had no hole in it! Oil had nowhere to go! So no wonder I couldn't see it bleed through. All sorted and working now!!!!
