Well I already have a pair of Lambretta LI's (Jimmy Li 150 Quadrophenia replica of 1963 vintage and a standard ish 1962 Li 125) but decided that for reliability and the ability to take the other half out with a half decent chance of getting back again too I'd purchase a Vespa PX so have gone for a Rosso Red PX200E EFL (May 2001) with only 3,417 miles covered so far by it. Collected it today. A lot more 'poke' than the Lammies it seems after a very short ride and not as 'bulbous' as I thought. Seems a good 'un !!!! Any pointers as to what to watch out for etc all greatfully received!!!!

Yes, be careful about people laughing at yet another Jimmy replica!
Sorry, couldn't resist, they're a pet hate of mine.
A ten year old bike with ony 3400 miles on it? I'd start by changing the brake fluid, it'll have gone off by now, other than that , it should be fine. Tyres may need changing, IIRC the original ones were pretty crap (I had mine changed for a set of Dexters when I bought it, rumbly but grippy...) and if you're planning on doing any mileage on it, I'd contact Ade Newnham through Facebook (he's easy to find) and get a pair of his bar end weights, disk models have a tend to vibrate up through the forks at about 40mph and there are a lot of people (myself included) who get white knuckle after less than an hours riding, it's a known issue with these machines.

Good idea re. the brake fluid. I'll get to that soon. Have you got a better contact for Ade N as I won't use Facebook after a computerate work collegue was able to get info from an ex girlfriends Facebook site who was all secured/locked down but he still got in to get pix etc. Hmmmmm. The rust under the spot weld seams especially the front mudguard I've seen before on most models. Mine has been reprayed there I'm sure. That spray mentioned is what we used to use at Genavco Aircraft on HS 125 business jets as well as spam cans (Cessnas, Pipers etc). I still have some in my garage so that's good. As to Jimmy replicas, well each to their own eh? Mine is a top rate copy based on a 1963 Li 150 as it was built by the guy that owned the genuine Sting GS before it was sold to the Quadrophenia Collection at Littledean Jail. He built the Jimmy one that Liam Gallagher had at his 'Pretty Green' shop on Carnaby Street and mine is more accurate now than that one!!! Anyway, It's that film that got me into scoots a couple of years back. Wouldn't have even contemplated the ownership of a 'hairdryer' before that. I still have my crotch rocket Ducati '916' and the Royal Enfield 500 Bullet (sold my Honda Firestorm 1000cc and my Kawasaki Kr1 twostroke that was rated at 60bhp from a 250cc) but just lovin' the scene around scooters. Indeed each to their own, it takes a lot of hard work to find that amount of correct accessories.. Fair play to you, it'd be a boring world if we all liked the same thing.
You'll also find Ade on the scooterboy-world.co.uk forum, if I remember, I'll ask him for prices for them next time I'm on.

There's a GS that Sting had in Quadrophenia at The Hard Rock Cafe in Sydney. It doesn't look right though, was it a different model b*st**dised?
The Manager likes Mod stuff and has held on to the scoot longer than he is supposed to! (think they rotate the collection every few years or something).

Well when it comes to Sting's GS, Dave Wyburn from Gloucester knows a thing or two about it. Here's the actual original scoot after restoration by him before he sold it to Littledean Jail for their Quadrophenia Exhibition. [a href=" "] [/a] Outside the Grand Hotel in Brighton ! [a href=" "] [/a]

Please note, it's not a GS! It's a TS125.

My PX200E EFL has Michelin S1 tyres fitted that appear quite/very new. Are these pretty much OK?

Excellent. That's one less worry then. Please see my trim legshield issue (seperate topic) and see if you have a 'fix'. Thanks as it's driving me nutz.
Aha. Sorted !!!!!!!!!!!

Ade Newnham made me the two bar end weights (VERY neat!) and now these are fitted with foam grips too. Just need some better weather to test it all out!!!
