I am getting delivery of a brand new new Vespa LX125 this Saturday and would like to upgrade the power, will fitting the above exhaust do this without any other modifications? Is it relatively straight forward to fit, I a have limited mechanical experience e.g. I can change shocks, spark plugs but wouldn’t feel happy playing with the carb.

They are generally not hard to fit. Once clamp where the exhaust goes into the head and depending in what type of exhaust, one or two other bolts holding it to the frame.
I am no expert, but I am not sure you will gain anything much by fitting a performanc exhaust to a bog standard engine and if they are anything like cars, you will probably invalidate its warranty by messing about with it (You said it was brand new)
Usually, people tend to fit performance exhausts at the same time as upgrading the barrel/piston/cycl head by fitting an engine kit to increase the engine size. Then at same time, they will also alter the carburrettor jetting to maximise performance.

bit of a dark art when you start to upgrade the performance unless you know what your doin' pal.....one thing leads to another ,,barrel..piston..re- jetting..plug..& hours of patience getting it right,,,whats the top end speed of it standard ? thought the LX 125s were pretty fast ?...& like colin said, the warranty will go out the window

I'd agree with Colin and Jack. You ain't really gonna make much more power with just an exhaust. And tuning up is tricky to get right. Over adjust one thing and it screws up another.
Saying that. A good stainless pipe will look better and last longer than the mild steel crap that comes as standard. There are performance pipes that can fit straight on with no need for jetting. But best to check with the experts first. Sip scooters are usually quite good as they usually tell you what you need to change for each exhaust and if it needs jetting they'll tell you what to jet to.

Blimey, you've not even taken delivery yet and you are already looking for more performance Biggest performance upgrade you can do is take some lessons, get your test done and buy a bigger engined scoot - makes more sense in the long run than throwing money at a 125 - IMO of course!
