Got my scooter running yesterday after managing to free a sieze up. She's been off the road for a while, got her going revs up really well but won't stay running anyone advise on this, I am sure it just needs adjusted. Also the choke came off in my hand but I can operate it by the carb. Then the clutch cable came loose and I cannot get tension on it for love nor money. To access the choke to reconnect do I need to remove the fuel tank? The clutch cable isn't snapped, how do you get it tight without pulling the scooter on to of you. Any tips or help really appreciated. see pics of actual Scooter s451.photobucket.com/albums/qq239/tackleburger/150%20sprint/

First point - could be anything mate, but if it's been laid up a while, at least dump the fuel and stick some fresh in, after that, I'd give the carb a good clean out, clean and gap the plug etc..
If you are putting a new inner and outer choke cable in, then yes, you need to remove the tank to access it.
For the clutch, you just need to pull the clutch arm forward with your fingers till it takes up all the slack, then tighten the cable end down, it's a bit of a struggle on your own, but can be done.
Screw the adjuster most of the way in first so you can take up any slack with that if you need.

Thanks for that man. Got the clutch working this morning. I did dump the fuel yesterday and put in a couple of litres of fresh fuel. Plug was clean as a bell and healthy spark. The tank looked a bit ropey inside actually so when I fix the choke I may well get a replacement or give it a good clean out.
She revs like a dream and I did get her sat at tick over but it always felt she would konk out.
I'll kepp you posted on progres thanks again.

Good stuff, I'd certainly give the tank a good clean out when it's off, if it's really bad you can treat the rust with acid, but personally I'd avoid using any sort of tank sealer.. better to just find a decent second hand replacement tank..

Well I thought i had the clutch working pulled it forward as far as I can but still in gear with clutch pulled in. Is it really awkward to do or is it me? Incidentally the plug seems to be getting wet when idling then it stops clean it and it will go again. Is this a air fuel ratio issue?

Clutch plates may be stuck together? how does the clutch feel when you pull the lever?
Worth changing the oil if it's been standing.
If it was running ok last time you used it, I'd say give the carb and airfilter a good clean out first

you could try to adjust the idling screw on the carb.
Get it up to temp first & then small adjustments & wait til it settles at the new tickover speed before adjusting again - it's a case of turning very slightly til the revs are up to where it ticks over nicely without sounding like it's going to cut out.

Sorry just reread the bit about your wet plug. That's deffo a sign it's running rich. You need to adlust the air mix screw on the carb. Do it slight turns at a time ( bout 1/8th of a turn). Then keep taking it out for a good run and check the plug each time til it's dry and light greyish in colour. Be careful not to over adjust tho. I did it recently and it can be a bit diddly to get it right ( at least with my lowly mechanical knowledge it was). I went too lean then back to too rich a couple if times til I got it right. It should help with the tickover too.
The ideal colour I was told to look for was grey to golden brown but I was also told too light and it's running lean so I wasnt sure of scales of golden so left it when it was consistently grey. ( just to be safe)
