hi all, hope ur all ok. ive got a px mk1 and im having a nightmare changing into 3rd and 4th! its only when im going up the gears, i have to ram it in! coming back down down its really smooth and its driving me mad i think it may be bad cable adjustment, but buggered if i can get it right!! any pointers would be great, thanks

If it's cables sometimes best to start from scratch.
Take it out of gear, wind the 2 adjusters back in, slacken off the cable nipples and tighten again taking up all the slack by pulling the inner cable and pushing the cable nipple inplace with a screwdriver. Both cables should then be balanced to the same tension. Wind out both adjusters by the same amout to take up any play left in the cables.
Fine tune on the adjusters from there.

cheers bryno, ill have another shot at it when the rain buggers off! i tried to do that before, but i dont think i wound the adjusters all the way in, i may have set them in the middle. would that make a difference?

No, wont make any difference, just try to get them roughly in same position.
What you need to achieve is equal tension on both cables to start with when it is in neutral, you can fine tune from there.
Oh, and its worth taping (or getting someone to hold) your gear grib exactly in the neutral positon when you slacken and retighten the cables to get your start point, it's easy to move the grips position when you pull on the inner cables..

all sorted mate! followed what you said, and it seems bob on now ;D replaced a cable too, think it was seizing in the outer, very dry anyway! all good now tho, thanks mate
