just a tip for you, if you look at kits and its speed you want, dont go for the dr180. it only increases the speed by a few mph. on the other hand, it increases the torque tenfold!!
i now laugh in the face of headwinds and hills!!!

someone on this forum posted this one day.
CHEAP FAST RELIABLE
you can always get two of those words to apply to a scooter, but you will be doing well to ever get all three!!

Cheers everyone, im not really bothered about modifying the engine as i like to keep old things as standard as possible but just thought i may be going too slow. It has been mentioned to me that i should be doing around the sixty mark and was just double checking with folk more knowledgable than myself. Oh and by the way since a full rebuild a year ago (n.o.s) parts it is ultra reliable and i think with the state of our roads nowadays 50mph will probably do me. Once again thanks

Just seen this old thread as i was wondering the same about px125 speed. I have a standard 03 plate PX125 MY disc and since i had it serviced its hitting 100KMH every time out. thats 62 mph. Appreciate that speedos can be be out, but its certainly got more punch than my old P125X of years ago.
My first Px125 was lucky to hit 56 mph (had a fresco on it back then). Just wondering if there is anything different about the PX125 MY Disc model regarding engine setup, as it certainly takes off in gears 3 and 4. Standard exhaust. Any ideas why its got such a good top end?!?!? Were these engines different in anyway?

The catalytic converter on modern PXs slows them down. Not sure what year it first became standard.

1981 px could need new rings or even a rebore depending on mileage. Could be in need of a serious decoke, ports need polishing, may have had replacement head and squish needs looking at, carb body may have foriegn objects were the jets sit, exhaust hammerred. MMMM where do we start.
