Hiya guys, my PX 125 (made in (2000) has a very quiet horn and the electric start has stopped working. Are the two things connected, ie does the horn work directly from the battery? How is the battery charged? Is it likely that the batt needs changing or is there a bigger problem with charging?
I know the horn is kind of quiet any way but this is ridiculous.
I have no knowledge of mechanics and I'm sorry if this sounds like a wind up. I used to take my scoot to Gran Sport in Birmingham and they did everything for me but now I live in Bristol, I have found Fanatic to be very helpful but Gran Sport are un beatable.
Will a new battery fix all my problems?

It's just a low battery mate. If it's been stood for a while or you do only very short journeys then it won't be trickle charging. Give it a good blast or alternatively leave it on a high tickover for 1/2 hour or so with all the lights off etc. That should give your battery a bit of a boost. You can also buy bike specific battery chargers form Halfords etc which you just connect up, leave overnight and it trickle charges the battery.

Joey, sorry about the email. I have just realised how to respond here. (doh!!) ok but the flat batt should charge on use of bike...right? I had to rdo my CBT (5th one now) a day or two ago and so we rode for well over 2 hours including the interminable figure of 8 stuff at the centre. horn still sounds like a cat mewing, no electric start at all, is the batt not charging? I have never replaced it (in 10 years...) do I simply need a new one? the horn onlyworks at all ontick over so is power coming to it from another source? thanks again for your help.

Yep, sounds like you need a new battery, they don't last forever, 10 years is good going..
But before you do that, just check it's properly connected, at both live and earth sides and topped up to the filler mark.. if it's low, a top up with battery water may keep it going a little longer..
