Hi All , advice needed. Fresh oil dripping from rear of engine . A trail leads up to back of carb, I thought it was from air screw but there is no oil inside air box . I took off the carb and fitted a new gasket but after a run i still get a dribble! some threads mention a bad casting on the carb not sitting flat so i tried another carb still a dribble of oil not a big prob just annoying oh one thing what stops gravity letting the oil run through the auto lube unit along the channel into the carb ? is there a spring with ball bearing or some other valve? so that your oil tank doesn't drain when left for a while, it may be a daft question but I'm a newbie trying to learn

hi try to wipe clean the area, run the scooter a bit, see the oil dribble, touch & smell it - try to figure out if its 2 stroke or gear oil.
if its two stroke, and you say the airbox is clean, could be coming from a worn gasket between engine and carb/air box
if it looks like gear box maybe it comes from clutch breather which is pretty close to the carb box just a bit below it
as for the oil stopper, i really dont remember what stops the oil, its been a long time since ive messed with this kind of oil pump (in my PX its disconnected), ill let somebody else answer.
BUT even if the oil doesnt stop, it would not be able to dribble outside, but rather just fill your cylinder.

yes, warped box can be an option too.
if you decide to sand it, use a fine abrasive paper, on a flat glass or other surface, in an 8 (eight) shaped motion

I will go down the fine emery route, but while the sun is shining i'll just keep on riding and wiping the drips. I will do it when the weather breaks thanks for the advice tara

Hold on. If the carb was warped or the gasket was not doing its job it would have a totally different impact. Oil would not leak out.... in fact AIR would leak in making the engine rev up according to the extent of the leak.

thanks for the input, I dont have any probs with the scoot engine revving up the oil leak is only a dribble and seems to occur after coming back from a run could the heat be deforming the carb body?

Unlikely, did you check the three mixer screws and pipe are well tightened?
