Hello all,
I have a 1997 PX 200 E Lusso, have owned it for the last 10 months with no dramas. Recently I have started having problems at full throttle in 4th and slightly in 3rd, basically when I get up to 80 ish Kph it sometimes cuts out, feels like fuel starvation or no spark, it doesn't back fire or splutter just lack of power and then cuts. If I depress the clutch and release after a few seconds going around 60 Kph it jump starts! and struggles to gain speed again. I have changed th plug, HT lead and cap, CDI unit, checked all connections, cleaned the carb and jets with compressed air, checked the tank is clean and all filters and still the fault occurs!
Does anyone have any ideas? I was thinking that maybe the stator is naffed or at least either one of the pick up windings or ignition source coil?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Rudi,
many thanks for replying.
It starts from cold as normal, pull out choke and she fires up no dramas. Pull away from cold and shes fine (choke back in). When hot its the same, starts fine, ticks over etc etc. I still think it could be not enough fuel when on full throttle, reason I also thought electrical was because it just suddenly started to happen at the weekend. When I stop after she has concked out I have a spark, no fuel coming out of the exhaust, time it takes me to open the carb up its full of fuel as normal! Its doing my head in! Like I said above I have changed quite alot to eliminate any obvious faults. I haven't touched it recently either (as in removed carb/tank or anything).
Cheers

Check the petrol tank lid, if the little hole breather is dirty it doesn't let air in therefore petrol would not go down to the carb. Check the tap and the pipe as well.

if engine starts staling only at full throttle or high speed but not at , lets say 60 kph or less, i dont think its electrical problem but some sort of fuel related
in that case possible causes could be: fuel line under the tank is bent upwards - but now i see it ran good untill some point, so i dont think thats the cause maybe carb float needs replacement - could be worth a close inspection for punctures etc
also worth a check - spark plug color

Adynix,
Cheers mate for the reply, I am hoping its the fuel cap option (thats free!!), if that doesn't solve the problem I will try changing the pick up as i have a spare one at the weekend when I am back home. If that doesn't sort it out I will have to buy a new stator Assy and keep my fingers crossed that solves it.
Cheers
