Does this sound like the timing is out? Runs all day on the stand, in neutral but as soon as I get going and select higher than 1st gear, it dies. Someone said that a scoot can run in neutral with bad timing but when given some load it will fail.

Hi It will run when the timings out even to the extend that the engine will run backwards, if it was that far out i wouldn't have thought it would rev fully in first, what scooter is it.

It's a 1959 150 GL (VGLA1T). I've just noticed that the inside of the tank is rusty and some of it is loose In the petrol.. Wonder if it might be part of the problem.

Cheers Jack. I've ordered some rust remover called 'evapo rust' that I've heard good reports of. Apparently, it is non corosive and non toxic. I'll let you know if it works.

'Evapo rust'? Sounds like something Wile E. Coyote would order from the ACME Corporation. ;D
