Now I'm not sure if I'm imagining this but it looks to me like the stand on my PX is pointing a fair few degrees more forward than it used to so that it is less elevated and there is less contact with the ground meaning the front wheel doesn't always spin freely (depending on how flat the surface is).
Could my stand be on the way out and what should I check for? Want to nip it in the bud early if there is a problem as I don't fancy forking out for a respray!

theres always the posibily you are imagining this :-P but, seriously, as the rear suspension gets older (spring fatigue) , the vespa gets lower that can be it ,or part of the lowering you see.
or maybe it is the stand
glad i could help :-P

come to think of it, if the rear shock is getting softer (older), the front will rise....
it will lower the vespa only when on two wheels
= forget what i said in my previous message ....

Devo, centre stands do have a shelf life, particularly if you're in the practice of sitting on your scooter while it's on the stand.
They will eventually give some, and the spring might get a bit slack (but that tends to stop it returning to its rightful place, rather than making it sag).
You can give it that extra couple of inches you crave by putting new stand feet on, but that's only a temporary measure. Eventually you'll need to replace it. It's not an expensive or difficult job though.

The bit that stops it pushing too far?? What bit? You have either one of 2 possible problems......... 1) You sit on your scoot when it's on the stand, in which case you've bent your footboards and there's nothing you can do about it. 2) Your plastic "feet" have worn down so get a new pair, simple! You can buy alloy stand feet which you can adjust so the front end stands slightly higher, but if you continue to pull off from on the stand/ sit on the scoot while on the stand then soon you'll be back to square one.

I tend not to sit on the scoot while it's on the stand for that very reason.
I forgot to mention that it's not the standard centre stand I have, was swapped for a chrome one and chrome feet. The feet don't look overly worn to me but I'll have another inspection.

It's definitely had it, spring seems okay but something has snapped underneath as it's barely managing to keep the scooter upright. Reckon it will have gone completely before the week's out.
Anyway, I got a replacement before (and with rubber feet this time) and I'm going to have a crack at it tomorrow night.
Am hoping it is a relatively straight forward task, anything to look out for?

Phew, all done. Now I can sit in work with out worrying that I'm going to come back to me beloved toppled over. The 2 clips that the spring is attached to at the back are a bit of a pain, no easy feat trying to get them back in if they come out and you still have the exhaust on. I easily snapped the old stand in half with my bare hands after taking it off, bit worrying that.

The look like they will give way when someone farts in their general direction to me, I have no evidence whatsoever to back this up though

Anyone use a sidestand? Any good? My mate has one and hasn't had any trouble with it, but I'm not sure I'd be too confident using one. I agree with Devo. They do have another use though. The aforementioned mate had an off last year on some roundabout diesel and his side panel was predictably scraped quite badly, but there was no damage whatsoever to his front end, not even a scraped legshield trim. We put it down to his sidestand keeping the front end propped up as it slid across the tarmac.
