Phew. Was cheaper than that, got it at a motorcycle shop as an emergency. Can be quite hard to find decent 2-stroke on the road!

I inadvertently bought fully synthetic oil for my PX125 and have been using it for some time. Have I bought the wrong stuff?

Cheer elvis, as an ageing mod my eyesight is going, and I never even realised I'd bought fully synthetic oil ( silly old fart) I was just worried I had done some sort of damage.

no you wont do any damage at all basically its too good for what you need remember years ago when you went to the garage you got this pump thing you put in your tank what cheap crap was in that and did you ever have any problems ;; no i reckon so just stick to semi as long as there is oil in your fine ride safe ferdy

My PX is 28 years old and in the five years that Ive had it I use tesco or carplan two stroke oil with no problems it is a standard set up though . I also have an LML that is catalysed and runs lean to meet Euro 3 so decent synthetic in that

I've used semi synthetic on a new PX for 2 years without issue. Should I expect problems at some point then?

I am only asking as i have recently bought a 2002 p2 with only 620km on it, so its not fully run in yet, and cannot get hold of the previous owner to find out what he had used in it. Your advise is gratefully appreciated.

Your advise is gratefully appreciated. When I bought my P2 it was very similar to yours, it had 340 miles on the clock. I've got no idea what the previous owner used, apart from not much, but I just started to use fully synthetic (Selenia) straight away as was recommended by the dealer, no problems so far.

I remember this argument on another forum once, the upshot was that fully synthetic was too good for running in, it actually extended the running in period. It seems logical as you are trying to get the metal surfaces to bed in together and as fully synth has superior lubricating qualities it will try prevent that...
All the best

All the best Thats put the cat amongst the pigeons again.......This is the arguement i've been hearing everywhere, did vespa recommend fully synthetic from new because it burns cleaner therefore it may get through the EU emmisions laws, or was it purely to preserve the life of the motor From what i can gather the motors haven't changed that much in the last 25 years or so have they? Just look at the oil we used to put in them back then, surely anything is better than that.
