Howdo folks been a while since i last posted so i hope i find you all fit and well.
Been having a problem with my T5 for the last week or so. Its fine starting as usual, but after about 5 miles it starts spluttering. Its ok going through the gears getting up to speed but cruising and slowing down is when the problem starts, its feels like it wants to cut out so have to keep the revs high as the 1 time it did cut out it took quite a while to get it going again, not nice in rush hour traffic when all those drivers i overtook in the queue go past me and im trying to pretend i actually wanted to stop there ;D. I took the plug out today and it was dry and black, which i know is not right.
Thanks in advance Gary

Cheers for the reply Ferdy. Im hoping your suggestions cure the problem as my technical skills don't range much further changing gear cables

Check your idle jet, mine did this and only when decelerating so guessed it had to be something to do with idle. It wasn't that in the end, all I needed to do was increase the tick over revs and I haven't had a snag since
Cheers

You got me thinking now.....i turned down my tickover a couple of weeks ago cos it seemed a little high. Further proof i shouldn't mess about with stuff i know nothing about. I'll try it out tomorrow and punch myself in the face if that turns out to be the problem ;D
thanks for the reply

I think that the problem may be more to do with you're scoot having a crafty fag in the garage when your back is turned, check around the carb mouth for signs of ash and check under the seat for a pack of woodbines, sneaky swines these T5s. A 3 week course of nicotine patches should cure the coughing, not sure about the spluttering! ;D Alternatively warm the motor up with a quick spin and turn your idle screw 1/4 turn at a time until you find a decent tickover.
