Was at a Roddy Radiation gig last week and he said it is going ahead next year. As far as I know the band have still to have a full rehearsal. The 1st one only 4 out of the 7 were there and at the second all 7 members were there but not at the same time. Here is a clip of 6 of the 7 Specials at last weeks Mojo awards. I don't think Jerry Dammers is a big fan of all these showbiz back slap awards uk.youtube.com/watch?v=_lZmQll2-5M

according to Lynval there is a band meeting next week to decide whether or not it's actually going ahead, but it looks like jerry has thrown his dummy out the pram and will not be rejoining the band. so if the glorious third coming does materialise, then lets show some sense people and have a bit of love for each other, in other words, no fighting, it was a bloody nightmare the first time around. anyway fingers crossed

Just starting to read "ska'd for life" by Horace Banter - seems like a good read - now reduced to the bargain price of £3.00 for hardback

Thanks to BFBS being behind the times I saw The Specials on 'Later With Jools Holland' the other night. Despite being a big fan, I had mixed feelings. The band were really tight and if I shut my eyes it was like being back in the past. The stage performance was really good, apart from Terry who has got even more miserable than ever. There is no Jerry Dammers, who is apparently in dispute with the members of the band who have reformed, and no Rico. All in all though - welcome back The Specials, long may it last!

Never really like it when bands reform. However, having seen The Specials playing live, have to say that the music was just as tight and stonking as all those moons ago. Actually shared a pwith Terry Hall at the Bestival: miserable looking but polite and conversational. Was quite surreal.

Simon Witter of the Daily Telegraph reviews last night's Birmingham Academy gig in today's edition. By all accounts it was something special (excuse the pun), and he finishes by saying "they are simply one of the greatest live bands this island has ever produced". I just hope they come to Germany!

i was at brum on saturday night, it was f*ckin mayhem, absolutely brilliant gig, non stop energy from start to finish, very funny watching a few thousand 40 odd year old portly blokes(including me) skanking there way to near heart failure, can't wait for manc on sunday

Here we go again! Today's Daily Telegraph has a full on article by Andrew Perry, with interviews with the band, and including pictures of the Brum gig. I won't spoil it for you by saying what's in the article - just buy a copy or look it up on the net.

once again another great read, it sounds daft but at the tender age of 42 its was one of the most exciting moments of my life when they walked on stage, i saw them years ago when i was very young and have been touring with bands for over 20 years, so i suppose without really realising they've been an important part of my life nice one zeppelin

I know how you feel, I was in my forties when I saw The Who for the first time. I'm just looking forward to seeing The Specials before they, or I, disappear for ever.
