OK, So I have a Vespa PK which is currently registered as a 50cc, however the previous owner has put a 125 enigne in it.
I have currently declared it SORN, and want to make sure when I do get it back on the road it is all ship shape. Is it illegal for it to be registered as a 50cc when it has a 125cc engine in it? Will it make it fail the MOT? Obviously when I get insurance I will need to tell them that it has a 125 engine in it, will this draw up problems as it is registered as a 50cc?
Secondly if the registration document does (i'm assuming it probably does) need changing, what is the process. I can't find the engine registration number anywhere, despite looking everywhere on teh bloody thing! Will thsi be a problem inthe registration process?
Sorry this is such a boring question!
Cheers,
S

If the casing has no engine no. It will be by the gearbox filler plug unless its been ground off then you can use the no,s from the 50 engine currently on the log book. You can stamp the no's into the casing and. it will be ok .
Engine no's don't matter for the mot. Frame number does matter though.
On v5 document simply fill in cc change (if you really want to).
I run a 136cc vespa douglas, with a v9ma 90 casings and engine is still registered as 49cc.
In insurance terms a pk50 with a primmy motor in would be dearer than insuring a pk125 or primavera as its classed as a modified machine. Now this is all a loads of b*ll*cks so I know what I'd do - get it mot'd and insured as per logbook and just ride it.
There's loads of Li125 & 150 - TSI 225's out there running as standard machines in the world of mots and insurance and bhp wise there are still 125 motorbikes producing similar if not more bhp. ..
IMHO - bring on the heated debate

my p125x is 180cc but still registered as 125cc it's no faster though loads of bike/scooters run with a bigger cc engine from whats on log book from your 16 year old with a mallossi 70cc kit to a harley sportster with a 883 to 1200 conversion I would leave as it is on logbook " it's just a fast 50 mate " as long as you ride it within the law there sould be no problems ;D

Their insurance is invalid. Sure, you might not get caught out but if you do you're in serious bother. I say keep the paperwork straight, there's enough other stuff to worry about
