Probably not quite the answer you're looking for but so far there are 112 booked on the ferries for the I.O.M.Rally The .11.15AM sailing from liverpool is filling up quite quickly so if you do fancy going it would be wise to book quickly.I hope you decide to go and have a great time on a real 2 wheel friendly island where you can get a pint for less than 2 quid Cheers BarryTurner.

Cheers for that Barry, and thanks for joining the forum. I've been wanting to drop in to the Warehouse (I go through Ellesmere Port on the M53 every day) to get a ticket for the do but I don't think you're open when I'm passing.
I'll try to get across to Liverpool SC this week to talk to the others that are going.

Regarding the 11-15am sailing from Liverpool on Friday 6th July. Despite constant rumours this sailing is NOT FULL.. I spoke to the Steam Packet Co Bookings Manager yesterday (thursday 22nd) and there is still room for scooters, but with so much interest if you dont get it booked soon it will fill up. Cheers Barry Turner

i wouldn't believe a word from the Steam Racket, as they are affectionately known here, check direct with the hotels. Try www.iomguide.com for up to date info (1976 stylee) Also on this sold out subject, I would like a rally patch to go with my others, 2003, 2004, what chances? (anyone got a 2006 for sale?) ps, July 5th is a bank holiday on the island so don't expect too much excitement when you arrive, we'll all have hangovers.

I remember going to Isle of Man in 2003, they delayed the boat because of "the number of scooters on board " and that they are harder to tie down than motorbikes. I hope they learnt their lesson then and you don't get delayed this time.

Oh yes, something that sits upright on a centre stand with a big flat floorboard to put a strap across must be a nightmare to tie down eh mate?

Last year they strapped them down that fast i was still trying to get off.If you dont jump off quickly you could spend two and a half hours strapped to your scooter.I think i'd better end this now i can feel some strange comments coming which my be suited to a different site than this!!!

Does anyone know if the smoking ban will be in force over there?
I'd hoped this would be the first smoke-free rally, but as it's still legal to marry a goat on the Isle of Man, I have a nagging feeling the new law may not apply.
Skrappey, can you advise?

You can smoke yourself to death over here if you like, smoking ban in public places doesn't come in until May 2008 (I think) you can't marry a goat over here, that's sheep. Some other things you can't do over here; Hunt foxes; Shoot squirrels; Disturb Badgers; Skin snakes and chase deer. you can't do these things because we don't have any of the aforementioned animals. We also don't have 'rats' and if you say that you have to whistle. They are called 'ringies' or 'longtails', plenty of those. Hope that's been useful and sorry you'll have to put up with the smoke a bit longer, or at least for the weekend. A little aside, the bar on the ferry shuts 12 miles out from the IOM because the Steam Racket refuse to get a licence from the IOM government. So get supping before you get too close (only if you're pillion of course)

Interesting Skrappey, thanks.
Also, I hear that the island is shrouded in a mysterious fog from whence time can not escape, that smugglers still clamber up and down slippery stone steps between the cliffs and the sea at night, with only a dim lantern to light the way, and that in the centre of the isle is a mighty volcano, about which fly pterodactyl and other such prehistoric birds.
Is this true?
