Oh no! Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy it Llew. I didn't know it was your first one, you should have said and we could have given you some hints and tips. On my P2 it takes me 6 hours to get to the ferry in Southampton, but that's on my own and with minimal stops. Once you're on the island you soon realise it's a rally not quite like any other. Personally I think a more accurate description would be a scooter festival rather than a rally, because it's a bit like the Edinburgh Festival when you think about it. Taxis were a nightmare this year, there didn't seem to be enough and those that were there didn't seem that bothered about making a ton of money in fares. I was lucky in that I stayed a 10 minute walk from a train station so I got into Ryde for £1.50 every night, then managed to discover the nightclubber bus at 3am so got home again for £4. But if you weren't on any of those routes you were rather stuffed. As far as entertainment goes, you've got to look at the schedules well in advance and decide what you want to do, then get advance tickets if you can. I got all my Hipshaker tickets beforehand, but tried to get a ticket for The Gift on the day and it was sold out, so I went somewhere else to see another band. That place was rammed but it was one out, one in, so I managed to squeeze in there. Sunday night was quieter, but if you can't get in to see bands etc, there's always plenty of people you know who couldn't either, so you can always get p*shed and shoot the sh*t with someone somewhere. There'll be a crowd of us from the 9 at Rhyl, so we stand a much better chance of meeting up for a pint this time eh! Yes definitely! I can this of at least 5 events this year that we have been in attendance together. My missus is not planning on doing as many rallies next year, so i need to met as many people as posible so i wont be billy no mates!

ok guys. shoot me a text message from IW I'd love to feel part of the party. 0111 828 216 8308 Thanks!!! Seth mate, sorry I didn't text you from the Island, but like a spanner I forgot my phone charger so had to leave it switched off most of the weekend, just turning it on to pick up messages. I was scared that if I sent a text to North Carolina it would suck all the juice out of my phone in one go! Maybe I should have remembered to also switch off the divert facility because I had fourteen missed calls on my work phone when I got back to the office this morning! Maybe you should come over next year, get the IOW experience first hand. I'll take that as an invitation, Spence. Now, does anyone have a scoot I could borrow? I'd love to bring my Stella over but it must be cost-prohibitive!

I'm going this year, in my van unfortunately because I have to do a round robin of my family in the Brighton area first and my baby's 21st birthday. Good news is I can get 2 scooters in it, so I'll see you on the ride out and generally out and about. I'm the cutdown T5 with 'R' plates on.

lucia you said you were coming over 2 weeks ago, your clutch should be fixed by now i dont think the ones going to the iow will be there tomorrow but the rest of the motley crew will be espescially if our summers here now. if you come over get in touch with simmo or bully, cos they usally meet somewhere about 8 then ride on mass to the club. what ever you do have a good one ;D

No worries Alps. Got to see This is Seb Clarke who were, I have to say, stonking good!! Good to see a brass section really rocking out as opposed to just standing there. Shame there weren't that many at that particular gig. I wonder if the unbroken line was behing the two Landrovers who wouldn't shift over whilst going thru Ashey towards the Downs lol. have sent you a pm with my address. thanks for that...look fwd to it near christmas time ;D

My missus is on my back now, thanks a lot Alps, a world record which she was part of and no details? She was too busy taking pictures of the dog in a sidecar to be a good passenger (keep bloody still woman). How many and for how far? The atmos was brill and the weather bloody marvellous. The ride out was ok but I would like to know what the filth were there for, not our benefit for sure and just added to the confusion. I liked the rugby club and the burgers were a reasonable price as well. Didn't try the ice-cream as I didn't want a brain freeze in that heat. Some lovely bikes and wonderful outfits, why were there so many pink scooters? Just a last word, to the oxygen thief that broke into my bike on Saturday night and stole my waterproof trousers and gloves and some tools, have they dried out from the cat p*shing on them on Thursday? The other lads that were robbed in Newtown, hope you didn't lose too much and appreciate my old lady's idea of leaving the police number on a post -it wasn't a p*sh take, more an attempt at helping out.

Hi Scrappey, When you leave the most two wheel friendly island in the world, where you can leave your scooters on the front in Douglas and even the local drunks don't go near them i'm not surprised that things got robbed back in the UK. The IOM attracts pure two wheel loving people. The IOW attracts scooter loving people ,hangers-on,knobheads and thiefs. See you on the real two wheel friendly Island next year!

I will certainly be here and I promise to buy a ticket in advance and also book a B&B for the weekend so I can join in the merriment properly. I've just bought my old lady a ET2 for £300, just need to paint it pink , knock the dents out , re-register it in the island (it's from Guernsey so never seen a test of any sort) and it's all systems go. As for the losses on the IOW, never mind, the craic was well worth it.
