Hi All I have an old engine i picked up and i am trying to get it to run.... changed all the bearings and stripped and cleaned etc. Wiring is causing me pain in the brain... I bought a 6v stator plate and coil (indian stuff from beed speed) but no spark i think i am missing something simple. Attachments:

In the pics it doesn't look like you've connected the stator to the coil. Is this a test 😉

It is testing me!!!! I am working under the assumption that the red wire is 6v from the ignition coil and that the black wire is earth, but no spark I am ignoring the other wires but assume that the green is for the horn and blue/ yellow are for lights etc. I have two different coils but i cant find any combination that will give a spark. Im starting to think the flywheel magnets are the fault but that is a guess. This is the 6V stator Plate. These are the coils i have.

Ha ha, I feel you're pain.
Ignore the coil for now, do you get a spark from the red wire when you kick it over?

Yes there is a spark now.... i realised that the points were malformed and could not close even though they looked closed there was a gap, i bent the frame of the points a bit a bit and now it is making juice.
What coil would be best? There were no electrics at all when i got the engine.
I got a 6V stator to keep things simple and i think the Fakealite (brown one) is the right coil, the grey one is off a CDI setup i think, will either work?
PS
Thanks for the help

Good news. Either coil, it's just that, nothing fancy. Looks wise the red one
