Hi, I inherited a 1977 90cc Vespa. It needs some work but is pretty good. I know close to nothing about Vespas so it's going to be a long journey to get it running. I have some questions that I hope someone can answer please. I only have one key which fits the steering lock but I'm unable to unlock it - is there a special technique? I will need to get a spare cut asap. Does my bike require an ignition key to start it? I dont have one! After a quick look I could see a place for another key apart from the steering lock but I could have missed it.

That should say I could not see a place for an ignition key

Welcome to the forum, there isn't an ignition key, just steering lock, headset shoddy be turned to the left for the lock to engage/ disengage, try to wiggle headset a little, and maybe spray some penetrating fluid into lock. Hopefully it will work, as long as it's the right key.

Hopefully it will work, as long as it's the right key. I tried spray oil and it will still not turn. I should add that the steering lock is on, and hasn't been moved in 20 years. Does the key turn clockwise or anti clockwise? Moving the bike with the steering lock on is a right pain.
