Hey Guys!
Like a lot of people, during lockdown I’ve finally found the time to Strip my 2003 PX125 disc down and sent the body and panels to the paint works for some welding and a respray.
That should take about 4 weeks. So now I’ve got the engine out I’m going give it a once over but not planning on completely stripping/rebuilding as the engine is solid and had a tune up just before the rust took it off the road.
It is however caked in grease dirt and grit. I’ve given is a very quick clean to get the thick grease off the casing but it still needs a lot of cleaning.
Can some one recommend a good product to clean the casing and a good technique etc? I’ve used Gunk before but reading online it isn’t suitable for Vespas aluminium. Would love all your advice?
Thanks Goodlad

I have used gunk many times, it is fine to use on aluminium cases, just dilute it and don't leave on to long, and lots of elbow grease and it will look good in no time

Best stuff to get old gunky oil off is fresh oil... But gunk does work well too.

Cost a fortune to clean your engine with that stuff Ok for the little bits you see But when you remove the engine, then then there’s a lot more to clean

Paraffin is what the garages use Haven’t a clue on the price of it But would think it’s cheaper than diesel
