Just wondering what people think? I fancy sticking with 8” wheels and 6 volts keeping it simple am I wrong. I feel if I’m upgrading these parts it’s going to lead me to upgrade more 🛵 😁

Upgrading can be a curse, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

The problem is, it is broke I need a new wiring harness and people have said upgrade to 12v as it’s better but I don’t see why, and one of my wheels needs a refurb as a stud is snapped so do I replace both with a bigger size to make the bike more stable in the long run.

How original is it? If it's totally original then I would led say probably best not, but you have to remember changing the wheels will gear it up. I broke off 2 of my studs on the PX, I threaded the hole and replaced it with 8.8 bolts all the way round. Was real easy to do and kept it going. Still in there after 4 years, but it's not turned a wheel in 2....

It’s basically a vbb shell and worn parts it’s mostly there but it’s had a few repairs (Indian style) along the way, which not all are good but it’s 58 years old, I don’t want to overcomplicate it, and try and make it something it isn’t. I really want a simple scoot to work on and do up. I won’t say restore as I hate all the shiny, bling, chrome crap. 😂

From my perspective, if it is for a bit of fun on sunny days the original 6v lights will probably be enough, if going out at night they will be shockingly poor compared to what other road users have. It is common to do the 10 inch wheel upgrade when changing to a px motor as it will already have a 10 inch wheel, if you are not going to do this then it is quite a lot of work, unless you just buy the 10 inch rims that fit onto a 8 inch hub, they will probably make it a bit more stable over pot holes etc, they do look a bit odd though, same question again is the scooter for a bit of fun on a sunny day or maybe for travelling a bit further. That is my take on your situation anyway

Thanks for the replies it’s definitely for fun and nothing else, so sunny days only and mostly daytime rides. So 6v and 8” wheels will be staying I think.👍

If you put a 10in wheels on, the front, as Ian says, can look odd. The 10in on the front also hits the front mudguard, when braking.
