Hi just thought i'd introduce myself. Just bought a vespa px 125 last week so looking for experience on here. Trying to change the worm drive for the speedo...wow what a pain to get it out. Will try and put a couple of pics on.
Just wondering if I'm doing something stupid but the new speedo cable I got won't fit through the bracket hole at the wheel as it has a metal fitting on the end. Can't take the bracket off either due to bolt being too long. Am I missing something simple? Pic is in file above.
I ordered a new px disk Speedo cable from Glasgow Lambretta about 10 months ago, went to fit it and not long enough, think it was for a Pk or something? Looked identical to the PX cable. Anyway had to send him a Photo of old and new cable side by side to show difference, got a new cable sent no bother.😉
It can be a pain but to give yourself good access I find this the easiest. Wheel off. Brake calliper off. Bottom shock bolts out and push shock to side. brake carrier can then swing down and give you plenty of room Undo the speedo cable clamp. Take the rubber bung and metal fitting out of the brake carrier. Turn the hub forward and the worm drive pops up. New worm and then reverse all of the above. Hope this helps.
