What do people make of this cult classic film? Watched it for the first time in years last night and if I'm honest I don't actually like it that much. Aside from the astoundingly brilliant soundtrack (just listening to The Slickers on Last.fm now, magic) there isn't that much going on for me .... Ok, it was an important film for reggae and Jamaica in general but that doesn't make it any good ... just my two pence worth

Im a big ska/reggae fan so i love the film. Its got that b movie acting in it and the musics great. Its just how the original rude boys were.

Great film! The high spot for me is Toots and The Maytals doing "Pressure Drop"

Missed Jimmy Cliff on Later With Jools Holland tonight, just managed to catch Weller doing Push It Along at the end.
I think it's repeated on Friday though.

I hope so, because it's the last one of this series. Thanks for the reminder, Spence.

Did anyone see Jimmy Cliff singing Many Rivers To Cross last night? Made my hair stand on end and brought a little tear to my eye (but that might have been the alcohol). He hasn't lost any of his vocal talent whatsoever, unbelievable.

Yes, I saw on a gig ticket newsletter there was a stage version kicking about.
If it comes closer to home I may well give it a shufty.

Well this is where you would find it: www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/But as they only keep programmes on there for a week it doesn't really matter any more. If you're lucky someone might put it on Youtube, they haven't done yet.

Cheers Spence. There was an item on BBC News this morning about the musical, which apparently is playing to sell out audiences. According to the producer, Jan Ryan, the audience is "dancing in the aisles every performance". There was also an interview with Jimmy Cliff who was extremely modest about the whole thing, and said that having a musical produced about him had made his life's work worthwhile.
